At this point in the game, the GPS market has been pretty much tapped. The innovation largely lies in smartphones, but Garmin has one trick left up their sleeve, the nuvi 3700 series. Winner of the Red Dot Design Award, the 3700 series is just 9mm thick making it the thinnest GPS device on the market today.
There are total of three 3700 devices (3790T, nüvi 3760T and nüvi 3750) and each boast a 4.3-inch glass capacitive touchscreen with pinch and tap to zoom functionality. The higher end model, the 3790t includes a “wake-up phrase” that lets you activate voice navigation commands and talk to your GPS so you never have to take your hands off the wheel. Other features that are available series wide include routing using historical traffic data, free traffic alerts, photo viewer, 2D/3D maps, pedestrian and public transit modes, lane assist, speed limit indicator and Bluetooth handsfree functionality.
There is no word on when the entire series will go on sale, but the higher end model, the 3790T, looks to be available soon for the retail price of $450.
