Another day another IR dongle for the iPhone. It’s as if all these company’s got sold the same idea from one door-to-door salemens and forget the exclusivity clause.
In any case, the IRB1, from i-Got-Control, plugs into your iPod Touch’s or iPhone’s 30 pin jack and lets you and your loved ones control your home’s IR gear – yeah, we’ve heard this pitch many times before. Much like PowerA‘s offering it can learn commands, but also boasts a database of 40,000 IR codes to control home theater gear, cable boxes and even lighting and HVAC systems. At a glance, the UI doesn’t look half bad, and uses those wonderfully intuitive iPhone OS jog wheels I’ve come to know and love.
The IRB1 will hit the street March 18th for $70.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
