Gadget Design: Ball Scroll Handheld Mouse

ball-scroll

This will probably be a great product if it ever sees the light of market.  Designed by Danilo Cvjetkovic to effectively relieve your hand from some of the traditional mouse and trackball trappings, the Ball Scroll Handheld Mouse says goodbye to carpel tunnel syndrome.

As you can see from the picture, your thumb and pointer finger do all the controlling of the ball.  No doubt taking some design cues from Wii controllers, it’s about time we see a mouse design like this.  My back starts hurting 30 minutes into computing sessions and the ability to sit back and click away is a huge deal for me.  Hopefully this post will fall upon the right eyes and we’ll soon see a product like this in our homes.

Is this available to buy yet?

With regard to your back hurting, in the meantime if this thing isn’t out yet, use a fish. Not that great since it’s not cordless and the ball portion is really loose and sucky, but at least it lets you lean back and work. I use it all the time. I think it was about $6 from someone in Hong Kong.
