It might be safe to assume that Google has plans to ‘map’ the world’s ski slopes. Today they unveiled the Google Street View snowmobile – it should be called Google Ski View. Wacky I know, but after seeing the Google Street View Tricycle it’s really not all that shocking. This announcement arrives just in time for this year’s winter Olympics, which are due to kick off any day now. Gimmick? Yes, but outside of the norm of Google’s efforts to map (i.e. index) just about everything? No.
The imagery is available now and is currently limited to the the 2010 Winter Olympics’ location, Whistler Mountain in Vancouver.
