AT&T Expands 3G MicroCell Service, Still Not Good Enough For Los Angeles

3G MicrocellAT&T is taking their sweet time rolling our their 3G MicroCell business.  For those of you not familiar with the product it basically increases your cell phone’s reception while at home, or wherever the box is placed, by rerouting calls through your home’s Internet connection.  Anyway, I digress.  Today, AT&T announced expanded availability to the following areas:

  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • San Diego
  • Las Vegas

when the hell are they going to fix their broken network in hollywood and west hollywood? My phone dropout rate when i took my phone to apple was 89%! This is appalling! I have wanted a microcell and it keeps getting delayed. Today I went to TMobile and got a simcard to test out their network and see how the coverage is in comparison before I leave AT&T. I had full service where I was before and 3 1/2 weeks ago it completely disappeared!

Many of my neighbors in West Hollywood have AT&T which cant be used inside our homes. It only seems to work when you’re on the streets. So when I or my neighbors need a signal to make or check for calls, we’ll sit in front of our building with our mobile phones. My work provided me with a Sprint phone that gets 4 bars in my apartment while my AT&T gives me NO SIGNAL. I’ve been waiting for MicroCell too. But I’m about to give up.
