Apple iPad Revealed (updated)
Apple unveiled the long awaited iPad today. Here’s what we know so far:
- Price: starting at $499 (16GB model)
- $599 gets you the 32GB model
- $699 gets you the 64GB model
- $130 gets you the 3G version
- 3G models shipping in 90 days, WiFi models in 60 days
- 10 hour battery (probably 3 hours in real world testing) with 1 month standby time
- Keyboard dock accessory – not a confidence builder
- 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen
- .5-inch thin and 1.5lbs (that’s light)
- Looks and feels like larger version of the iPhone only it has a 4:3 screen
- Real virtual keyboard
- Runs larger versions of the iPhone apps
- 16-64GB of storage
- iBook store
- iWorks software
- Accelerometer
- Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- 3G connectivity on select models – $14.99 gets you 250MB of data or $30 gets you unlimited
- No contract, cancel anytime
- Free use of AT&T WiFi hotspots
- Unlocked device
- Uses new micro SIMs
