Apple unveiled the long awaited iPad today. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Price: starting at $499 (16GB model)
    • $599 gets you the 32GB model
    • $699 gets you the 64GB model
    • $130 gets you the 3G version
    • 3G models shipping in 90 days, WiFi models in 60 days
  • 10 hour battery (probably 3 hours in real world testing) with 1 month standby time
  • Keyboard dock accessory – not a confidence builder
  • 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen
  • .5-inch thin and 1.5lbs (that’s light)
  • Looks and feels like larger version of the iPhone only it has a 4:3 screen
  • Real virtual keyboard
  • Runs larger versions of the iPhone apps
  • 16-64GB of storage
  • iBook store
  • iWorks software
  • Accelerometer
  • Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
  • 3G connectivity on select models – $14.99 gets you 250MB of data or $30 gets you unlimited
    • No contract, cancel anytime
    • Free use of AT&T WiFi hotspots
    • Unlocked device
    • Uses new micro SIMs
