Maplock Is ‘The Club’ Of GPSes

Maplock

Don’t be a fool, look up your tool…GPS tool that is.  Apparently these things are getting ganked and yanked out of cars faster than you can reach for your can of pepper spray.  So one Australian company, Who-rae, has come up with a product to prevent GPS theft.

Called the Maplock it acts just like ‘the Club’.  But instead of preventing car theft it stops your GPS unit from being stolen by tethering it to, what else, your car’s steering wheel.  No word on how much it costs or where you can find it, but I’d be concerned about how much attention this draws to my vehicle and its contents.

this is the stupidest invention, man. a TOTAL waste of money. the thing will probably cost about half of what the actual GPS unit does. It will probably take forever to put it on. in the time it takes it hook it up to the gps unit and your steering wheel, you could stash it where burglars wouldn’t be able to see it. this will actually attract MORE attention to your car. a dumb thief is not going to be familar with what the special lime green GPS is and think it’s the hottest thing going, break your window, get frustrated not being able to steal it, and proceed to mess up the rest of your car.
