So I think it’s safe to say, unofficially of course, that this will be a very good holiday season for video games.  At today’s TGS Nintendo has officially announced that the Wii will go down to $199 on September 27th in the US and October 1st in Japan.

Not that 20% off is that big of a deal, it’s only going to help Nintendo move more units this fall.  The console is going to be packaged with the regular goods that include Wii Sports and one remote/nunchuk.

Is this a good deal or is it a who cares?

  1. A fairly good deal, I say–you can already buy them used at a similar price or slightly lower, and this will drive the price of the used ones down. But I can’t help but think that Wii saturation is already pretty much at maximum, so why the price drop? Desperate bid to get in the last few stragglers? Or do they KNOW it’s going to be a terrible Christmas season so they’re going to get everyone they can?
