Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."

  1. I have a video production company and I was more than disappointed when my Sony A1U died in the middle of a shoot. After 3 years of constant use, I laid it to rest but I chose to go with the 500v. Much to my surprise, I didn’t miss the viewfinder. In fact, I was filming a highlight reel this past weekend as it’s first ‘go’ and couldn’t believe the quality. Amazing!

I would recommend the DVD recorder that it is paired with if you’re scarred about storage issues. But other than that, it’s definitely worth a look… and yes I would consider it a good prosumer or otherwise a back-up camera if you have a V1U or Z1U.

A ‘prosumer’ camcorder lacking an eye viewfinder and LANC is unacceptable.

Will purchase when Sony corrects the model.

I do believe all functions well, but the storage media too small. If the memory can be change or upgrade to 200GB, it maybe perfect.
