After 3 years of constant use, I laid it to rest but I chose to go with the 500v. Much to my surprise, I didn't miss the viewfinder. In fact, I was filming a highlight reel this past weekend as it's first 'go' and couldn't believe the quality. Amazing! I would recommend the DVD recorder that it is paired with if you're scarred about storage issues. But other than that, it's definitely worth a look... and yes I would consider it a good prosumer or otherwise a back-up camera if you have a V1U or Z1U.
