LG unveiled a multimedia hard drive today that will surely turn a few heads – the XF1. Unlike many of today’s multimedia storage devices, the XF1 features an on board touch sensitive set of controls just in case you forget the remote. Which if you ask me is brilliant seeing as most people don’t want to lug around two items to view their stored content on a connected TV. Capacity appears to max out at 500GB and codec compatibility is limited to MPEG 4, Xvid, MPEG1 and MPEG2. Connectivity wise there is an HDMI port for viewing up to 1080i video and they’ve also included a composite A/V output and of course the good old USB port.
Right now there doesn’t seem to be a launch date or price, but seeing as their is a dedicated site I’d wager a guess that it will go retail soon.
