I cannot afford to pay a loan payment and they are threatening to kill the ignition switch via GPS. HOw can I disable with disrupting the ability to turn the vehicle on?

this is a horribile idea. they hide they true uses for the invention. ok, so they say that it "will aid police officers in stopping the vechichle safetly". ok well that means that the government will also be able to track your everymove when in the vehicle. Be able to listen to your intimate conversations in your vehicle and be able to shut it down if they ever deem it necessary? wow, so lets say that i get behind on a payment and they deciced to reposses my car? are they just going to shut it off? Horrible idea. Thanks but no thanks. In recent years, OnStar has been installed for a trial of 1yrs. Since the people realized that it was an invasion of privacy and ultimatley a bad idea most of the consumers would not extend after the free trial expired. Now, 2010 GM cars are being equiped with a minumun of 3 years that "come free with purchase" but whos cost is automatically included in the base price.

I have had OnStar in my last 2 cars and I used it for directions, hands free calling and once for assistance with a flat tire. I never really realized how valuable the service was until my car went missing from a department store valet stand.
OnStar was able to locate my car immediately - they stopped the car, (which was on the move) and let the police know where the car was. I had no clue this was possible. After a ton of paperwork I got my car back that evening. OnStar saved the day with their Remote Ignition Block and Stolen Vehicle Slowdown program.

This is what OnStar says about this service.

Featuring New Remote Ignition Block and Stolen Vehicle Slowdown®
Once you report your vehicle stolen, OnStar can use GPS technology to pinpoint its exact location and provide it to authorities to help with its quick and safe recovery. Remote Ignition Block and Stolen Vehicle Slowdown are two industry exclusive technologies available on select 2009 and 2010 vehicles. The Edison Award winning, Remote Ignition Block can prevent the vehicle from being re-started once the engine has been turned off, and if the vehicle is still moving, Stolen vehicle Slowdown can slow-down the stolen vehicle to an idle speed.
