Battlefield 1943 Available This Week For Download Only On Xbox 360 And PS3

Saturday night I noticed a banner ad on Xbox Live detailing a download only version of Battlefield 1943.  There was a link to a demo that did not work.  Watching the trailer explained that a new map called “Coral Sea” would be opened once the Live community amassed 43 million kills.  Sunday night the banner had been removed.  Now we know that Battlefield 1943 will be available on Xbox 360 on July 8th and on the PS3 the following day.  The game is priced at $15 and will be multiplayer only.  No word yet on how many maps will be included but it does look to be the first offering of what Mircosoft is calling their “games on demand” service.  See you online!

Do you know when the demo will be released or if there will be one?

  • no

No, this is simply an Xbox Live Arcade game. A good example is Castle Crashers, it was a $15, full game up on the XBLA. The “On Demand” service isn’t due out yet. That will be for downloading full games that you would ordinarily have to purchase at retail.
