BBC’s newest show, Bang Goes The Theory, is off to what the Brits would call a ‘smashing starting’. Last week we saw the show’s host scale a building with what were supposedly home made vacuum cleaner suction gloves. Now he has pieced together a vortex cannon that fires a powerful ring of air that would probably knock most people squarely on their ass.
The Vortex Cannon uses some crazy mixture of gas and when ignited produces a vortex ring that travels at over 200mph. To see the ring in action they shot the below video at 1300 frames per second. What you’re actually seeing isn’t smoke, it a cloud. The cannon is being fired over water and the vortex is actually condensing the moisture in the air.
