Sprint Blackberry Tour Launch Date…Maybe

blackberry-tour

It was just over a week ago that we learned that Sprint will launching the Blackberry Tour for $199.99, but neither here nor there was there a mention of an actual launch date. But now a blogger that supposedly workers in the bowels of Sprint’s customer care unit says the Tour will launch on July 20th. Of note, Verizon will supposedly launch the BB Tour on July 12th. Of course, none of the above mentioned launch dates have been confirmed by either carrier.

[Thanks, Pete]

Think of Blackberry Tour as the Storm with the 8900 screen (smaller than the Bold but higher resolution), and the Bold keyboard (slightly shrunk to fit the phone size) and some minor cosmetic changes. From the videos we have seen the bask of the inside looks exactly the same as the Storm.

Sprint and Palm did a great job getting the words out there on the palm pre, verizon and rim needs to step up and spend some money on advertising this blackberry tour, what you guys think?

The Sprint Tour is our ticket to nirvana! Now I will have got the goods to silence all my ATT Bold toting co-workers. They just can’t get it that EVERY Sprint Pearl, Curve, and 8830 are 3G while the only ATT 3G BB is the Bold. I just chuckle when they whine about the Bold, “3G is great, but it is a battery hog”
With Rev A Phone-as-Modem tethering I think we get to have our cake and eat it too!

Verizon Online Customer Service confirmed today that the BB Tour 9630 will be released on July 13th 2009! Sprint Customer Service could not give me a date. Since the 13th is a Monday, I assume Sprint will be releasing it’s version a couple of days thereafter….
