We’ve seen a fair amount of controller free products (here and here and here) to hit the concept market, but none have displayed such a full fledged interactive experience as Microsoft’s just announced project Natal (that’s as in ‘not at all’). The video below depicts all the different options in a rather compelling way, but to sum it up in a nutshell: project Nutal is a 3D sensing camera that can detect your movements and voice, which are then reflected in the game – no controller is needed. The system appears to be a small box that sits just below your TV and uses facial recognition to sign you into your Xbox live account. It’s difficult to tell how accurate or responsive it is, but this will definitely take some of the wind out of Nintendo’s sail, that is assuming it can live up to all the hype. Rumor has it that it will cost $200 and there is no word on a release date. Video below.
