Although I’d like to think that I’m not one to perpetuate unfounded rumors, the announcement of the new iPhone is less than 24 hours away and well, I just can’t help myself.  According to John Gruber of Daring Fireball the new iPhone will be called the ‘iPhone 3GS’.  He predicts that it will feature “significantly faster processors, twice the RAM, and twice the storage”.  I’d have to agree with him as we’re all expecting a 32GB version.  He also goes on to say that battery life has been improved by 15-20% although he doesn’t point to an OLED screen, which we heard about some months back and makes sense given the direction the industry is going.  3GS, if that is the real name, probably stands for super, much like a Porsche Carrera 4S.  I still have my fingers crossed for wireless charging, although I think that one is a stretch in this iteration.  Tethering would be very, very welcome, but of course AT&T will charge an arm and a leg.  Until 10am tomorrow…
