Houston we’ve got lift off! Push Notification is now live for the AIM iPhone app. I only downloaded the free version and contrary to the apps copy, push is live. Download it (read link) and fire it up. Once you do you’ll be prompted with the above screen confirming that ‘push’ is up and running. I’m gonna test it out now and see if there are any issues, but feel free to drop a comment below if you find a problem.
Update: Beejive, which costs $10 is also live with Push.
Update 2: Surprisingly, it seems to work flawlessly, instantaneously in fact. Even if you turn off ‘push’ for AIM, and drop out of the app your status remains online to your friends. Turn on ‘push’ and you’ll receive all those notifications. I’m going to test it more and see if there is certain period of time that will cause your status to expire or invalidate the push option after exiting the app.
