Apple Flash Drives MP3 Music PMP — 14 April 2009

To be a direct competitor with the iPod Touch, Sony’s new Touch Screen Walkman’s will be cool for sure, but also really expensive. Two models will be available in Japan on April 25th. The 16GB NW-X1050 will be $403 and the 32GB NW-X1060 will be $503. Both players will sport OLED lighting and flash memory, and have built in WiFi for browsing, YouTube, and podcast downloading. Internal software has an ambient noise filter as well as mobile radio and TV stations with limited recording options. That’s cool for sure. The NW-X1000 series will be compatible with MP3, AAC, WMA, MPEG-4, H.264 and WMV videos and also work on the Mac with drag and drop features. Available at launch will be a slew of accessories. No word yet on US launch date.
