Sony HDR-TG5V Handycam Geo Tags HD Video, Also Helps You Get Unlost With NAVTEQ Maps

Sony freshened up their HD camcorder line yesterday by introducing the HDR-TG5V Handycam.  The pistol grip camcorder shoots 1080 high def video and 4MP stills, all the while capturing your media’s location via a built-in GPS antenna and NAVTEQ digital maps.  I’ve read a few blog posts (namely this one) stating that syncing the GPS data with video is a nightmare of a situation and it seems that Sony has no plans of alleviating this quandary with proprietary software.  Oh well, we know how bad Sony software can be.  Other features includes a 2.7-inch touchpanel, 16GB of flash memory for up to 6 hours of HD video, smile shutter, Memory Stick slot and face detect.

The Sony HDR-TG5V Handycam will go on sale this May and will retail for $1,000.
