The Niveus ZONE Media Player isn’t exactly a ground breaking media center, but its core offering and community supported software should prove to be well suited for today’s growing open source mentality. Front and center is a slot loading DVD/Blu-ray player with upscaling technology and just below are two USB 2.0 inputs for flash drives or other compatible peripherals. It supports a CableCard which means one less box in your living room and inside the brushed aluminum casing is the latest Intel Core2 Duo processor. What really looks attractive is the software’s UI, which appears to let you browse your music and movie titles by cover art. The Niveus ZONE Media Player starts $1,499 and is available now.
