The price is $19.99 per month only if you are interested in just paying one month at a time. As of June 2009, the standard Peek device is $14.99 at Target stores (and as low as $11.99 when it is on sale at Target, as it is right now.) Additionally, Peek (the company) will update Peek (the device) to the Pronto firmware for FREE- all you have to do is make a call to their customer support (which is actually a very quick and pleasant experience) and mail the device to the address they provide. It will be upgraded for you FREE and they will even pay the shipping to return it. This certainly beats paying $59.99 to pick one up that already has the Pronto firmware installed. If you care to wait (about one week) for the upgrade, you could apply the $45 in savings toward that year of service I told you about. When this device premiered less than one year ago, it was $99, service was $19.99 per month and it could only send and receive email. Fast forward several months and there are now two versions (Classic & Pronto) available, much lower prices across the board for the device and service as well as the ability to send and receive an unlimited number of text messages.
