I remember when the portable DVD players hit in the late 90s. They were about $1000 and Jeff’s parents bought him one. Ya, we thought they were cool shit. Following suit, albeit 12 something years later is Panasonic’s DMP-BV100 portable Blu-ray player with 8.9-inch LCD (1024×768). Although it doesn’t look portable the company has seen fit to bill it that way. Other features include HDMI out, BD Live, SD card slot, Ethernet port and a handful of digital TV tuners. A single charge, which takes 7 hours, will provide up to 2.5 hours of playback.
The DMP-BV100 is set to hit Japan retail stores on March 15 for about $1,000. No word on if the US will get the over sized portable Blu-ray player, but if I had my guess, and I do, I’d say unlikely.
