Hold onto your seat, because the 3.0 software update for the iPhone is just days away, well, at least a preview of it.  Apple sent out an email today inviting journalist to a March 17th event that will show off the latest SDK and OS 3.0 for the iPhone.  As previously rumored, we should probably expect background processes and maybe an official announcement about the premium game store. Perhaps with a little Irish luck (it’s St Patrick’s Day) we’ll be able to download the update the same day.

Join us at an invitation-only event to learn about the new SDK and get a sneak peek at the iPhone OS 3.0 software. The event takes place at Apple, Building 4, Town Hall on March 17 at 10:00 a.m.
