Who would of that gel, yes gel would be saving lives.  D3O, which we’ve seen before in ski suits and other sports equipment is a gel like substance that when at rest is soft and mailable.  Apply extreme friction, or say a bullet and the gel hardens and protects the wearer.  Soon, UK soldiers’ helmets will be updated with the D3O gel technology and potentially protect them from what were once life threatening head shots.  MoD, the company behind the D30 hopes to eventually apply the technology to body armor, significantly lightening a soldier’s load.
