Finally, and after many months of leaked screenshots, Microsoft officially unveiled Windows Mobile 6.5. The leaked photos we’ve seen over the last few months are accurate, at least as far as the honey comb UI goes. Microsoft’s commercial (below) claims ‘improved finger navigation’, ‘do more with photos (I don’t see it)’, ‘rich media playback’, the latest IE mobile browser and a call answer feature that is so iPhone unlock it’s actually pretty funny. Two advantages Windows Mobile 6.5 currently does have over the iPhone is Adobe Flash Lite (flash compatibility) and something called ‘My Phone’, which enables users to sync their contacts, calendar appointments and more over the Web. It’s basically ‘MS Exchange’ without the required server.
As you probably expected, Windows Mobile 6.5 won’t roll out any time soon. You can probably expect it in the latter half of this year.
