So when Apple announced the new 17-inch Macbook Pro, the reaction was a bit bitter sweet in light of the ‘fixed’ battery.  Fortunately, the battery lasts for 7 to 8 hours between charges and should survive 3 times longer than your average laptop battery.  Unfortunately, the battery can’t be replaced by just popping a clip and inserting a new one.  The good news is that Apple has stated that they’ll offer same day replacement at their Genius Bars located in their Apple stores.  In all likelihood, though, most people will complete the laptop’s lifecycle before needing a new battery, perhaps one positive side to our throw away generation.
