Just before this past weekend, T-Mobile and Google released a special unlocked version of the G1 phone for $399.  Available to developers only, the special edition G1 is both SIM and hardware unlocked, and includes a ‘bootloader’ allowing any firmware version to be loaded onto the handset.  Additionally, the phone is finished in a some sort of polygon artwork.

Go here to buy the unlocked G1, but you’ll need to be a registered developer, which costs an additional $25.
