Joost Arrives On The iPhone

There’s no doubt that Joost turned out to be a bit of a flop when it comes to the whole IPTV thing.  Hulu on the other hand has become a massive success, and Netflix streaming on my computer or Xbox 360 gets me so excited I can hardly contain myself.  So what’s left for Joost? The iPhone of course.  Yup, they’ve released an iPhone app that’ll allow streaming video over WiFi.  I downloaded, installed and was once again let down.  I can hardly get a video playing and when I due it jumps around, drops sound or all together crashes.

So why even talk about the Joost app for the iPhone if it sucks so much?  Simply because it sets a precedent of what’s to come.  Netflix recently opened up their API, so someone will surely release an app allowing for streaming movies when logged in.  Better yet, Hulu, which has done a better job monetizing their video than Google’s YouTube, must want in on the action for the additional revenue stream since they’re ad based.

If you wanna experience some buggy Joost for the iPhone go here.  Or just nav there from the iPhone’s app store by punching in ‘joost’.
