The Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase from Logitech sports a semi hard finish enabling it to squish down in the event of a tight overhead compartment, but still provides the rigid build needed to keep your lappy protected and in working order. One side of the bag is finished in a soft rubber shell, the other fabric. The shell side is ideal for keeping paper work wrinkle free and your pens and other miscellaneous work gear in tight order. The fabric side, which contains 3 Velcro pockets (2 small and 1 large) is built for the more sturdy peripherals, such as an AC power pack or cord. This is all complimented by a center padded pocket, which provides ample room for almost 2 laptops. It’s snug enough to hold a 13.3-inch Macbook and large enough for a 15-inch full sized laptop. Carrying the bag is available in two forms: shoulder strap with padding or briefcase style.

Overall, the bag itself embodies all the utilitarian qualities a laptop tote should have.  Aesthetically, it’s very briefcase like, which probably won’t appeal to any trendy dotcommer or Web 2.0 maven.  I’d also expect waterproofing at $100 a pop, something the Kinetik case seems to lack, or at least make mention of.  The interior is lined with a bright orange polyester like material, which reflects light making it easy to search the contents of the pockets.  The handles are wrapped in a suede like material, but lack any serious padding which might prove uncomfortable in the event that the bag is on the heavy side.  Logitech has included a shoulder strap that is relatively robust and features a neoprene absorbent pad and heavy dude clips that won’t snap any time this decade.  Unfortunately, the zippers could be a bit beefer, and although they didn’t seem to be flawed in anyway, I can only imagine what a road warrior would do to them.

The Logitech Kinetic Laptop bag will keep your laptop protected, your paper worker and office supplies in order and looks wise it most certainly separates itself from the pack.  Slight flaws aside, any 9 to 5er would be lucky to have the Logitech Kinetik Briefcase in their cube.
