Headphones — 19 November 2008
Hitachi and Maxell surprised the iPod world today with a pair of dock connecting and noise canceling headphones. Before you get too excited, don’t, they’re not all that. Although they do manage to combat external noise by as much as 20dB, they lack a separate power source and as a result (here’s why they connect via the dock connector) they’ll kill as much as 50% of your iPod’s battery life. Here’s another kicker: they won’t work with the iPhone and are only compatible with 4th gen iPods and the iPod Touches.
The headphones will go on sale (Japan only) December 12th for around $83 (8000 Yen).
