Are you one of those iPhone users that is consantly checking their iPhone for text messages? Weak battery life bringing you down? This week Apple published a 24-page document discussing the details of a new dual backlight system they have designed for future iterations of the iPhone. Sounds cool eh? Once this concept is integrated into future iPhones, it should help alleviate some of the battery woes that all iPhone users are currently enduring. This feature is along the lines of other smart phones that let the user know they have unchecked media through flashing LED’s that use hardly any power to run. More specifically, the design incorporates layered backlights, with an “always on” one positioned behind the main one, and projecting through it’s transparent layer. Who knows when we will see this street side, but it for sure means that I will be buying a new iPhone.
