change you settings…in your itunes click Edit>Preference>General>Import Settings…then you can see; Import using (AAC Incoder)

I have 8.2.1. Will it be blocked in this version of itunes. Did they removed or blocked this function/way to make ringtones.

I haven’t tested this method with iTunes 8.1, they might have blocked it.

Thanks for the tip Ruben…but as I follow your instructions you say to click on the import settings and change it from there… but what do I select? My choices are: AAC Encoder (which is already highlighted) AIFF Encoder, Apple lossless Encoder, MP3 Encoder and WAV Encoder.

when i drag my 30 second AAC .m4r file into library in itunes, it appears in library but not in ringtones???? someone please help!

click on edit from there go to preferences. click on the general tab. halfway down the tab it says import settings, click on that. a new window will pop up, you can change it from there to convert to ACC. thats what i did and it worked.

trying to creat iphone ringtones….following your steps, but when I click on “Advanced” as your vid suggests (which is different than printed instructions) I cannot find ‘Create AAC Version’ I have also tried the printed version instructions which say to ‘right click on song, this time, choose ‘Create AAC Version’ but I do not see that as well.

Help?
