Wacky — 14 September 2008

Falling somewhere between the Darwin Awards and pure genius is this home made, semi professional human catapult.  I’m not sure what’s powering it, but the grassy knolls in the backdrop look ever so Swissesque.  Just simply submit your insurance policy number and file for life insurance before taking part.

Notably, I like how they’ve use a ‘racing’ seat, which probably reduced weight.

    Yeah, thats those crazy Swiss alright. The .CH in the web address stands for Confederation Helvetia, aka Switzerland. Looks like compressed air driving some sort of piston arrangement. Curious is that the tank is red – not normal for compressed air. Alternatively, it could be some combustible gas fed into a combustion chamber and ignited with a spark plug. Using Occams Razor, I’d go with the first guess.
