I am a faithful Toshiba Satellite laptop owner (this is my 4th one) and am very disappointed in this particular model. The frame/casing that holds the monitor is so weak and flimsy that it actually cracked when I was opening it. I am an extremely careful person, to a fault, and can’t believe it cracked. I was opening it the way it was meant to be opened and it broke. I contacted Toshiba and they said I was out of luck because the one year warranty expired three months ago. My only remedy is to purchase a new one. I have to do so ASAP in order to protect the monitor warranty I purchased from the retailer I purchased it at. I wish there was a class action lawsuit against this particular model as well (previous model I owned had the same problem and they were sued and had to refund the money spent to replace the casing) so I could join it because I shouldn’t have to pay for cheap, shoddy, plastic casings. The casing cracked in two tiny pieces right where you are supposed to open the unit. I rarely use it and wish I had used it more so it would have cracked earlier. I am extremely disappointed in Toshiba both for the obvious defect and the poor customer service/appreciation in fixing what is, once again, an obvious defect.
