Sidekick Gecko Get’s Official As The Sidekick 2008

BGR, the cell phone maven of the web, scored some insider info on the soon to be released T-Mobile Sidekick for 2008. It looks like they forewent any complicated naming (it was Gecko), and have chosen ‘T-Mobile Sidekick 2008′ – inventive, right? It was code named Gecko (this is a guess) because you can ‘customize the shells’ or shell of the device. It’s boxed with two shells: black and extra metallic green, and customers can by 11 more shells if they so desire, and also purchase matching backgrounds online. That’s right, suck ‘em dry T-Mobile (money that is). It’s expected to be an entry level device and sport a 2-megapixel camera, 2.6-inch WQVGA screen, video recording, stereo A2DP Bluetooth and all the standard Sidekick features.

Expect the Sidekick 2008, July 30th.

Do not get this phone! I’ve had this phone for a long time….i like certain features the mp3 is decent but dont rely on the phones speaker itself. If you do not plan on waisting your money on the data service..wanting it primarily for a PHONE. do not get it. My contacts along with text messages and even pictures have all been deleted without any answer from the t-mobile tech staff. I hate that! And dont even think about personalizing it unless you want to pay a pretty penny. And the camera thats a whole new story…there is no ZOOM! and no flash. so you can forget about taking a picture from a distance it just wont work. I once really enjoyed this phone after being scammed into buying it..but now i fully understand why it was a scam…not worth my 300.
