Cell Phones — 25 June 2008
After a long hard battle Helio is finally closing its doors. Ok, they aren’t closing their doors as much as they’re being bought by Virgin Mobile (price unknown). Virgin Mobile and Helio both operate on Sprint’s network, otherwise known as MVNOs, or Mobile Virtual Network Operators. To Gizmodo’s point, their shouldn’t be too much question as to whether or not your phone will operate over Virgin Mobile’s setup, but you might wanna check in on service plan compatibility.
The biggest disappointment for me will be not staring up at the ever blinding and color changing Helio logo slapped on the side of the Helio headquarters building in Westwood, CA. Question is, do the Helio Stores become Virgin Mobile stores?
