Motion Detecting Light Bulb

Motion Bulb

Just like the infomercial says, don’t spend hundreds on high end motion detecting light systems, get the Motion Bulb. Built into the tip of the bulb is a small motion detector. The detector is only active if there isn’t enough ambient light (you can control this) and activates the bulb when it detects ‘temperature changes’. Once you leave its 25 foot-detecting-radius the bulb turns off within 10 seconds to 5 minutes, it just depends on your preference. It’s makers are touting it as energy saving, but at $19 it sure as hell ain’t money saving.

By the time you get it shipped, it’s $27.00. And it took 18 days for my order to arrive.

BUT, there is a buy 1 get 1 free special and it came with 4 small magnet LED lights which are cool to put in drawers.

These lights are a bit more blue in color than I expected. Most CFL bulbs I get nowadays have a warmer color but for the garage or basement it doesn’t really matter.

My only concern is one of the lights didn’t turn off after 5 min – instead it stayed on until I removed it from the socket and was very hot to the touch. I put a thermometer up to it and it eventually climbed to 200 degrees. I expect CFL bulbs to be cooler than that. I have no idea if this is normal or not.
