Elmo Live
Fisher-price announced a new Elmo toy today, the Elmo Live. For $60 he sounds like a God send to parents looking to preoccupy their children. Hell, he even sounds mildly entertaining to me, and I am on the verge of turning 30. Set for release in October 2008 (right before the Holiday shopping season), the new Elmo will “actually be speaking as his mouth opens and closes just like the real Muppet, Elmo, from Sesame Street. His mannerisms are right on target as his head bobbles back and forth as he speaks. He waves his arms, sits and stands, even crosses his legs, all the while telling stories and jokes…”. I’m waiting on video and additional details to see if it truly is an animatronics like experience or pure hype.

My 21 month old child just got this Elmo live a couple of days ago and it scared him at first, then we was fine with this new toy, but it is not exactly his favorite.
To be honest this toy is going to drive parents crazy. It is very loud, and annoying. I thought it was going to be a toy with which my child would be able to interact, like kind of questions/answers thing, or Elmo pausing after a word or short phrase to invite little kids to imitate him. Plus, it’s a hard toy, it’s a robot covered with a very thin red velvet kind of fabric.
My preference and I’m sure my child’s is his child size Elmo plush. He loves to play pretending to feed him and to brush his teeth and putting him in bed to sleep.
Anyways, I would like read more opinions.
    Thanks
