You Can Now Buy 5 iPhones Instead of Two – Oh Joy!

Business Cell Phones Rumors — 10 December 2007

Wired has confirmed that Apple has increased the iPhone purchase cap this week from 2 phones to 5. Doesn’t sound like they’ve budged on the whole “credit cards only” stipulation, though. No one knows why they’ve increased the limit, but chances are it’s the whole ‘holiday shopping’ strategy.

I think it was a very ingenious marketing ploy to limit the amount. It created buzz and they could control distribution and price.

Now that the hype has dyed down some, and that they can gage demand, there gonna be cranking them out like hotcakes throughout the holidays.
