Cingular Adds Unlimited “IN Text Messaging”
March 5th, 2007

Recently Cingular and Verizon increased it’s per text message cost from $0.10 to $0.15. They’ve obviously ran the numbers and seen the profits. In fact, I’ve known teenagers whose Family Plan’s cost ballooned due to finger mashing, not chit-chatting. To remain competitive in the cell phone marketplace and to lock in some guaranteed monthly revenue, Cingular will soon start to offer unlimited ‘in network’ text messaging for $5/month. You’ll have to subscribe to a text or media package to be eligible - means the lowest amount you could pay for this feature is $10 ($5 text bundle at Cingular gets you 200 texts a month). The ‘IN text’ option includes photos, texts, video messages, but not instant messages.

T-MOBIL AND I DONT WANT T-MOBLE THEIR SIGNAL IS NOT AS GOOD AS CINGULAR!!
SO PLEASE CINGULAR GET UNLIMITED photos, texts, AND video messaging!!!!
3. Ren | April 17th, 2007 at 11:06 am
All my friends have different cell phone companies. Five dollars for unlimited text to only people with cingular isn’t a deal at all. My friend has unlimited text for ten dollars to anyone she wants! Cingular needs to get with the program and start listening to its customers.
4. tyler | April 19th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
i agree and i want cingular to get umlimted texting
5. BL8304 | April 19th, 2007 at 9:19 pm
My contract is up with cingular in June of this year and I would consider staying with them if they had unlimited text messages. I have to agree with REN’s comments, offering unlimited text to only customers that have cingular will not work for my son. All his friends are on different networks. It looks like I will be switching cell phone companies again.
6. Sean | April 21st, 2007 at 10:14 pm
I agree with all of these people. When i first heard about the deal i was going to get it, but now that i know that its only mobile to mobile it has completly changed my mind and it looks like i wont be getting texting after all.
7. Jennifer | April 23rd, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Cingular needs to get with the program. I had to turn off the texting feature on my kids phones because it was getting way to costly. They keep begging for me to get unlimited texting “like all their friends have.” Well all their friends don’t have Cingular and can get unlimited for $10!!!! What is wrong with you Cingular. Isn’t more cost effective to keep your loyal customers happy so that they will continue to stay with you and speak highly of you and continue to recommend you to their friends. You can’t tell me for $10 you can’t give us unlimited texting considering I already spend $123 a month with you. For $10 more I’d gladly pay to keep from hearing my kids complain constantly about not being able to text, however, I can continue to tune them out if I have to pay $20 a month or .15 per text message. Wise up Cingular!!! I have faith you will hear your customers!!
8. Jessica | April 24th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
oh my gosh. cingular, you need to get unlimited text messaging to any network. this is so unfair. I have cingular and none if my other friends do. I just convinced my mom to let me have unlimited text messaging but now that i see its only to cingular people, i changed my mind because its not a good deal at all. so please cingular, get with the program and get unlimted text to any network. =]
9. Eemi | April 24th, 2007 at 7:31 pm
Every1 cingular has unlimited texts for 19.99 a month
10. Jessica | April 25th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
really? is it to every network?
11. Chris | April 27th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
To the guy who would pay $10 but not $20 for his kids, why don’t you just suck it up and get them to do an extra $10 of work around the house a month? Seems like a win win for everyone. They’ll stop complaining and they’ll learn a good life lesson about the value of your work and having to work a little to get something you want.
12. Colby | April 29th, 2007 at 10:48 pm
Yeah cingular has unlimited texting to any network for 20 dollars now. I went today with my bro to check it out, and im going tomorrow to actuallly get it. Its about time cingular quit sucking
13. Denise | May 1st, 2007 at 7:56 am
Cingular still isn’t as good as the other netwoks though! They do not have a family plan with unlimited texting!! I wish I would have signed on with Verizon. I have 2 years to wait it out now! Verizon cost $30 for unlimited texting with a family plan of 700 minutes up to 5 lines. To have that exact same family plan with Cingular for all 4 of us to have the unlimited texting it would cost $80!!!!!!! $50 more than if I had Verizon. Other networks I have seen have it even cheaper yet! COME ONE CINGULAR!!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!
14. steve | May 1st, 2007 at 7:15 pm
holy crap cingular y cant ur unlimited texting to any network be cheap $20.00 is such a rip off.
15. lamar | May 2nd, 2007 at 5:27 pm
Do any1 no where to get unlimited text
16. Marcus | May 3rd, 2007 at 9:13 am
Yup i agree with everyone. Cingular sucks cuz they don’t have unlimited text plus they have terrible customer service!
I’m switching to Verizon as soon as my contract is up.
I know they’ll treat me right!
17. zakar | May 5th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
how do i get unlimited texts if u know please tell me
18. kelsey | May 12th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
yeah i definitely agree! they need unlimited txt for everyone. but i know for a fact that verizon just recently got unlimited text for any company… so unless cingular comes out with unlimited for any company pretty soon…. im switching. it is rediculous. they are suckin the money out of our pockets… but they are NOT giving service worth any money. our bill has been raised about 200 dollars per month and thats just sickening. verizon here we come!
19. Joshua Deluna-Garza | May 13th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
Cingular does have unlimted texting for 19.99 and unlimted internet and texting for 39.99
20. Denise | May 14th, 2007 at 7:48 am
They have unlimited yes, but it is $20 for ONE line! That is ridiculous when other networks offer unlimited for the whole family for $30!!!!
21. sonny from ehs | May 14th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
i agree with ren haha cingular is gayyy
22. lance | May 17th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
agreed. i was in europe for five months (naturally cingular wouldn’t suspend my contract for a few months).
Everyone over in europe has FREE INCOMING calls and texts. We are getting screwed.
Cingular sucks because they force you to pay the $20 extra for multimedia. Most people just want texts, not to send unlimited pictures etc. I’m moving to Verizon when my time is up, unless Cingular wisens up and offers an unlimited text service for $10 or under.
23. Marcy | May 20th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
I believe that it is ridiculous that all Cingular is worried about is making a profit and not satisfying their customers. I honestly think that if they do decide to make unlimited text messages available for $5 a month to all networks not only will more people want to get that particular plan, but it will also attract more customers to the network! I would love to see this plan be set into motion and if it does I can guarantee that Cingular would get more customers, they might even get customers back who were cheated by Cingular in the past.
24. Christina Wilkan | May 22nd, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Cingular really needs to get unlimited text messaging to everyone. Most cell phone companies charge about $10 for unlimited text to anyone..and cingular is way to expensive for texting. Their new commercial advertises that it is $5 more a month, which is very misleading because it’s actually about 4 times that amount a month, $20!
25. bloo square | May 27th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
FYI cingular has an unlimited internet plan for $20 a month called mediamax unlimited .. this gives you unlimited web/internet .. What you can do, and it works almost as good as txting your friends directly .. is tunnel your text messages via the internet.
That is, use your mail program (on my phone its mobile outlook) and just type your message in the subject part to the appropriate email address i.e.:
http://www.accutracking.com/sms-email.html
The surprising advantage of this is, you now have a record of your text messages (sent and received) in your email account .. which is sometimes useful,
and the whole thing *including* 3G is purely $20 a month… In fact its only a matter of time before someone makes a ‘txt messaging’ app that tunnels unlimited txt messages over the net for free.
btw i have the 8525 .. so its a higher end phone.. but in the end its not as expensive as it seems when you save so much on the monthlies .. (which is the real cost of the service)
26. cingularsucks | May 27th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
cingular is so gay why can’t you just get unlimited texting for $10 a month atleast i mean your gonna make even more than if u kept it at $20 because other people will come to you!!!!
27. shelby | May 28th, 2007 at 10:09 am
unlimited texting would be amazing…i know this is a bit off topic but i have a certain limit of text to anyone per month, and i don’t know how to check the amount of messages i have…so the last couple months i’ve been going over…does anyone know if there is some way to check my total amount of msgs(sent and recieved), cause it’d probably help me not go over
28. Greys-Girl | May 28th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
Okay i watch american idol and they advertise that cingular does unlimeted text for $5 which is totally in my budget. I was so phyched. I go to add that to my cell plan and learn its $5 for people with cingular and all my friends got different plans. I mean $20 bucks a month woah.
29. Hottie101 | May 28th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
omg i agree with greys girl like i watched american and idol and they were like ya its $5 and now i might have to like work to get the extra like $15
30. Jennifer19 | June 3rd, 2007 at 3:28 pm
Hey, I agree with this sucky plan of 20 bucks a month for unlimited texting. I got the unlimited messaging for 19.99 a month. Which said that you can send and recieve, texts, PICTURES, AND VIDEOS….but yet I am unable to open the pictures my friends send me and am unable to send pictures or videos…says communication failure. Then I am told by a Cingular rep that I have to have Media Net in order to download my pictures, and videos. Is that true? I’m just confused now because the detail of the feature I got said I can send and recieve pictures and video….said nothing about having to get Media Net…Someone help…I have a Sony Ericsson W300i.
31. That guy | June 21st, 2007 at 5:44 pm
I just checked the cingular site and they now have an unlimited texting service for FAMILIES! Then I looked at the price…ouch. It’s 30 BUCKS A MONTH!!!!!!!! That is absolutely outrageous. I hate Cingular so much they NEED unlimited texting. It sucks because I want to stay with them to get the iPhone but without unlimited texting for cheaper I’m switching to Verizon. All of my friends have Verizon and I only get 200 texts a month it’s so unfair because they can text each other FOR FREE and I have to pay for it. At least with Verizon unlimited IN messaging would be good enough. COME ON CINGULAR GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!!
32. alicia hand | July 12th, 2007 at 1:45 pm
oh my goodness i have to tell people all the time to stop texting me cause they all ahve unlimited textng and they can text all day ling and not have to worry about it but me i ahve to keeep track of all my messages to make sure that i dont runover on messages and so that can keep my bill down well guess what it is still not down and i really need hepl with that and with what cingular has to offer yall should really look into unlimited texing for all companies
33. nily | July 19th, 2007 at 11:12 am
my rents won’t let me have a plan unless its about 30.00 a month & its got unlimited text & it dont have alot of talk time cause i dont talk alot on my phone jus text & it has 2 b cigular so cingular u need 2 make a plan like dis u would have alot of peps buy it 2!
34. Katie | July 19th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
Is cingular the same as Verison? b/c I dont want to get a deal like this if it is!!
35. cel | July 26th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
I paid a lot, cingular cheated me.. I always paying so much.. theres no unlimited text messaging
36. zena | September 3rd, 2007 at 12:26 pm
yeah i agree $20 a month is too much.
does anyone know any companies that offer unlimited texting for $10 or under?
37. Mike | September 15th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
I agree with everyone! cingular suks, end of story! They need to got a texting plan like verizon because i do not feel like spending $20 a month for unlimited! It is jsut stupid, 200 txt messages goes by way to fast. Cingular neeeds to get witht eh program!
38. Brandon | September 18th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
yea, cingular is gay….they charge the most for everything and they are at&t now and that company has alot of things going on to get there money but they still wanna rip ppl off still and over charge us. At&T rips me off with my DSL too. So i dont know if im the dumbass here and goin with them still….
39. kayla | September 19th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
i heard that anyone that has a family plan in cingular they have unlimitted texting.. is that true. well i hope it it cuz its so expensive and we dont even have unlimitted texting!!!!
40. kayla | September 19th, 2007 at 7:27 pm
cingular sucks! it will be better if we get unlimitted texting for free!!! i mean with the family plan. you guys PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]
41. Aoi | October 11th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
Hey, just thought I’d point out to you that if you buy the 20 dollar unlim. text plan from Cingular and then CALL them, you can tell them that you want the unlim. texting for your family plan and they’ll make it be for your family and it’ll still only be 20 dollars each month! (I just confirmed this with a family member who uses it)
Besides…there’s no chance in hell I’m switching to Verizon….Or T-mobile for that matter….>_> I like the unlim. calls for Cingular-to-Cingular…The family members I mostly see have Cingular, and even members of my biological family have Cingular, so I like being able to talk to anyone from either of my families as much as I’d like. ^_^
42. Kelly | October 13th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
Does cingular have unlimited or not????????????
If someone knows that question email at cototwin@aol.com
thanks
43. Devon | October 19th, 2007 at 7:30 pm
Ok, seriously my parents get so pissed wen if i even go over forty a month and they are so “texting is a dumb money sucker” and they have “brain washed” us, but i still do it, and like cingular, you should look at this whole page and you would totally see that even though there is like 30 of us, really like everyone i know that has ur service is way pissed that you don’t have unlimited. like think of the business you would get since you have the best service anywhere, and if you had cheaper texting and unltmd texting like everyone would sign on with you! DO IT FOR UR FUTURE CHILDREN!!!!!
44. Dereck Symon | October 22nd, 2007 at 11:33 am
Cingular is the worst company when it comes to text messaging. If they would just listen to their customers and have unlimited text messaging for the whole family for less than 10 dollars monthly, than their business would grow. Our family is switching companies as soon as our contract is over, unless Cingular can “get with the program.”
45. jay | October 23rd, 2007 at 6:29 pm
how does the unlimited text messeging work on a cingular phone
? Becuase im under the impression that all teh texting that im doing isnt gonna cost me.
46. melek | October 24th, 2007 at 8:49 pm
I REALLY HOPE CINGULAR GETS UNLIMITED TEXT MESSENGING NOT JUST M2M BUT FOR ANY COMPANY BECAUSE MOST OF MY FRIENDS HAVE UNLIMITED BUIT OF COURES THEY HAVE
T-MOBIL AND I DONT WANT T-MOBLE THEIR SIGNAL IS NOT AS GOOD AS CINGULAR!!
SO PLEASE CINGULAR GET UNLIMITED photos, texts, AND video messaging!!!!
47. clay | November 26th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
cingular you suck, you need unlimited text for 10.00-15.00
48. mom1 | December 20th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
Kids are turing into text messaging addicts! Why can’t they just dial the number and speak to their friends like normal people do? Phones are communication devices, not toys. All of the texting is disruptive, time consuming, and unnecessary. If kids spent as much time READING as they do texting, our education system would be much improved. It’s amazing how parents will spend the $5 - $20 per month for text messaging, but will not do their job as a parent to be a part of their child’s education! I have disabled my son’s texting capabilities after just one month’s enormous bill and realizing the amount of time that must have been expended in him doing so.
49. gambia | December 24th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
So, mom1…. Your child does not read his text messages that he receives? It doesn’t take much to run up that bill, especially when it costs to receive them as well. It’s not just kids getting addicted to texting as well. I can tell you that the education system has never improved since it started. Texting has not been out that long, nor computers or cars or video games… So what is it?
50. Becca | December 28th, 2007 at 3:16 pm
Mom1
some people like texting.
In some ways it is just like writing a story
I love to read and I love to text
and I know I am good at both subjects.
i agree with u in some cases
some people do overtext
but if the child pays for the phone and the monthly costs would you think it mattered so much
I beleive your more angry with the bill than the money
51. livieloo | December 30th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
plz get unlimited texting for $10 or under otherwise im switching my plan b.c cingular is a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!!
52. ryan | January 1st, 2008 at 8:09 pm
cingular you guys are crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why on earth should we pay 20 dollars for unlimited texting, you guys are going to start loosing alot of customers ,when other companies are asking for half that price, to text all networks.
And some are FREE!!!!!!!!!!!
please get with the program
53. Sierra | January 3rd, 2008 at 12:55 am
Okay, we did the plan were you have 200 texts a month. That didn’t work out too well cause I used it up in one day! Thats $10 for one freakin day of the month. I mean how do you live without texting! My dad bought the unlimited texting but he said that it cost him $30, I mean that is ridiculous, I don’t even know if I can send to people not in cingular with that! What kind of people are you? You are going to loose all of your customers, including me if you don’t lower your prices!
54. Awesomeness | January 3rd, 2008 at 12:57 am
It should be $5 a month for 200 free texts and $10 a month for unlimited to anywhere. I think that it is pretty dumb to pay that much for unlimited and only be able to text the people in cingular!
55. Sierra | January 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 am
Okay, here is the plan!!!!!!!!! If you want cingular to hear you go up to contact us, put in your REAL email and type in your REAL name and put in your comments or concerns. (in this case concerns) These they have to read, and these they will pay more attention to. I am just trying to help, I already put in my concern and I read through all 54 of these messeges trying to put it all in one paragraph. I did it, and I hope they read it. If we all did it, having the same concern as everyone else, they will surely fix something. At least the texting to different networks and not the mobile to mobile.
56. Lauren | March 9th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
i think that cingular needs to lower the unlimted texting price verizon’s price is about 10 dollars for unlimited and cingualar’s price is 20 i think its ridiculous
57. pre paid | March 23rd, 2008 at 6:08 pm
sucks that cant turn off in coming text messages
58. prepaid | March 23rd, 2008 at 6:11 pm

59. Joe | April 12th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
I just copied this entire webpage and sent it to cingular via their "contact us" link. Hopefully all the above mentioned prayers will be heard by the Almight corporate executives who, so badly need to make few more millions in addition to the ones the already are taking home each month. They need bring themself down to our- middle class, working people who make up majority of there consumer base.
60. undescrible | July 10th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Cingular is a rip off now they charge for everything back in the day they used to have free texting and now 10 and 15 cent come on they full of shit
61. go phones | August 10th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
