Wired’s Chris Kohler sums up his current experience with the PS3 and from the sounds of it Sony’s launch delay wasn’t long enough. As noted the PS3 is well worth its $600 price tag: Blu-Ray Drive, 60GB hard drive, and of course IBM’s Cell Processor. Unfortunately, the controllers have remained virtually unchanged ergonomically, but have made up some ground with a built-in rechargeable battery and motion sensitivity (blah – that’s the Wii’s job). If you have a PSP you can apparently sync it with the PS3 and it will double as a controller with a screen – according to Kohler this experience is sub bar at best. According to Sony you will eventually be able to download Classic Playstation games and beam them wirelessly to your PSP – I guess this is Sony’s way of saying ‘thank you’ for signing on to their line of gaming machines.
Head over to Wired.com for Kohler’s complete perspective.
