A building that is being constructed in Southeastern Japan will be able to autonomously illuminate its interior for 4.6 hours every night just using God’s gift to Earth, the Sun. Sections of walls in the building will be composed of “a new building material that contain super-thin, transparent solar panels and as many as 320 light-emitting diodes that release whitish-blue light at night. The material, which converts about 7% of solar energy into electricity, is a joint venture between Sharp and construction company Shimzu.
