How about a laptop that’s battery runs for 2 days with no recharging?  Yeah, we’d all love one and I’d like a cell phone with all the imaginable bells and whistles and a 1 month battery life.  Well, the laptop battery life may not be to far off.  Ultracell demonstrated its XX25 micro fuel cell system at the Intel Developer Forum this week.  The juice is derived from a “reformed methanol fuel cell,�? and is currently in a prototype stage for military use and testing – expect a commercial version by the end of 2006.  The XX25 has been designed to military spec for extreme hot and cold use, and sudden impact – leaves us wondering what happens if this thing gets shot.  Testing of the XX25 is set for the 2^nd quarter of 2006, while the commercial version – the UC25 - is due for testing come the 2^nd half of 2006.
