Sick of waiting for Apple to ship the long-rumored Mac Tablet? Then wait no longer thanks to ThePlaceforitAll.com.
The company has taken the 12″ G4 iBook and converted it into a tablet Mac known as the iTab. The machine will use the 1.33 Ghz G4 iBook with 512 MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive, Airport Extreme, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.
They converted the 12″ screen into a touch screen using a touch-sensitive panel over the iBook’s screen. However, the iTab will not work with Mac OS X’s InkWell handwriting recognition. It will NOT. They recommend using an onscreen keyboard like KeyStrokes. Virtual keyboard software not included.
Also of note is that the iTab will have no warranty. ThePlaceforitAll.com also will not repair your broken iTab for you. Basically if it breaks, you’re SOL cause lord knows the Genius Bar at Apple Stores will laugh at you.
Each one of the 100 iTabs sold will be individually numbered and signed by the creator. ThePlaceforitAll.com plans on releasing 100 iTabs with each update of the iBook line. Let’s see if the first 100 even sell.
No handwriting recognition on a tablet. Ridiculous.
Bidding starts for the iTab at $1500 on ebay.
