HealtheTech BodyGem: measure your metabolic rate

Looking to lose a little weight? The new BodyGem from HealtheTech may be the gadget you need. The BodyGem is able to measure your resting metabolic rate (RMR), or the number of calories your body will burn each day at rest.

Knowing your RMR is pretty key if you spend most of your time on the couch / in front of the computer. Once you learn how many calories your body will burn a day, you’ll finally be able to learn the correct amount of food you can eat.

The BodyGem 40 System Kit, which includes the gadget and mouthpieces, should work for 40 uses and will cost you $799.

At this price point it seems more geared towards fitness trainers than lazy bums like me. Still pretty impressive what this gadget can do off just your breath.
