Samsung will begin selling its Silver Care silver ion emitting washing machines sometime this year. In case you don’t remember silver ions, in recent, have been embedded in a number of consumer products ranging from refrigerators doors to cell phones to inhibit the growth of bacteria – also found in clothing. A 99.9% sterling silver plate has been installed in the machines and through the use of ‘electrolisation’ fabrics are penetrated with silver ions. The silver ion should inhibit the growth of bacteria in your clothing for up to 1 month, but to whether or not it will stop your from stinking is another story (although one could argue that it’s all bacteria related as the product page points out).
