Utilizing a technology once used by Nasa, you can now breath easy knowing that the Oxypia Pine L-3 is close by. The device, through the use of a solid material, converts poisonous air to breathable oxygen with out a power supply. God knows how it works, but let’s hope it actually functions in the event you need it.

The solid material changes color to indicate when a replacement is needed. Probably not a bad gift for those living in pollution infested cities.

You forgot to mention that it needs to be refilled with snake oil periodically. My guess is that the color changing part is just something that slowly reacts with oxygen to ensure that the manufacturer has a continuous revenue stream from its customers. I hate uncritical “reviews” of crap like this. Also, how does it transmute all of the other atoms in the “poisonous air” into oxygen atoms?

It probably doesn’t transmute anything, idiot. It filters, hence the color change.

What kind of poisoned air? Very shady.

There is a material that will absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, its only good for so long though once it reaches maximun absorbtion. This is often used on spacecraft as an emergency air purifier.

well done, the 3 of you. I just want to put out there that the technology it is referring to is that of the kind used in space shuttles. It is most likely a lithium hydroxide filter, made to absorb carbon dioxide, making a non re-usable waste. Technically…
    2LiOH(s) + CO2(g) –> Li2CO3(s) + H2O
That means that the lithium hydroxide reacts with carbon dioxide to produce a lithium carbonate waste and water. The machine doesnt “transmute atoms” in anyway. The remaining “poisonous” air is probably also run through a charcoal filter and a type of fine mesh screen (possibly staticly charged) for other particles. Also, your cynicsm is not well-founded, as the indicator is a necessity to display when the filter is used up and needs to be replaced. Eventually there isnt any LiOH left to oxidize the CO2.
No, it doesnt make magically clean air if you put it next to a car exhaust, but for all intents and purposes, this product appears to be legitimately effective. Quit flaming each other if you don’t even know what the product does.

“Poison”covers a lot of territory. If they mean CO2 they need to say it.How does it “run”air through a filter without power?A fool and his money are soon parted, and there’s (more than)one born every minute!

Can these filters be used for a strick CO2 environment and if so can the filters let out the remaining O2 into some type of tank thereby renewing the air we breathe?
