There’s been a lot of blogging and buzzing about Microsoft XBox 360s locking up and overheating. It’s no shocker that Microsoft decided to make an official statement.

According to Microsoft, only 3% of XBox 360s are defective, which they claim is below the industry average.

According to me? Bullshit.

I’ve owned pretty much every console (except the stupid ones, sorry Virtual Boy). I’ve never once had a defective unit or really known anyone to have one that overheats or locks up within the first couple days. Sure my old NES crapped out after 7 years, but 2 days?

This round? I received a phone call from my cousin, the only other person I know who could get their hands on an XBox 360. “Eric, is your XBox 360 broken?”

I’ve also played enough XBox Live games to hear people complaining about their Xbox 360s crashing in mid game. Yeah that’s right, I’m a big enough of a tool to put on that headset and chat with 13 year olds across the nation.

Sure my machine isn’t broken, but it’s already had several lockups and runs hotter than a pizza oven.

I still stand by my first impression of the XBox 360 — I love it. I just can’t wait till Microsoft has enough consoles that they can replace mine with the much needed recall.
