Sony Ericsson has just announced its newest version of the P900 series, the P990. The Sony Ericsson 990 Smartphone is the 4th installment of this series. Earlier versions were the P800, 900, and 910. We first saw leaked pictures of the new 900 (code named βHermioneβ?) back in mid September.
The Sony Ericsson 990 will continue to use the Symbian operating system, upgrading to version 9.1. It will also sport a 2megapixel camera with auto focus, a new keyboard, WiFi compatibility, video calling (seen largely in the EU), and full HTML page web browsing via Opera 8. The device will also be compatible with full email push, enabling the βroad warriorβ access to cooperate email.
The 2.8β? touch-screen displays 240×320 pixels at 256k colors. Internal memory is 80mb, and the phone will ship with a 64MB Memory Stick PRO Duo. At the time of shipping a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo should be available. The phone is also Bluetooth ready and supports many of Microsoftβs office applications.
